The Cosmic Turtle is an ancient being of immense power, predating the Golden Age of Magic and the foundation of the Nine Olde Witches. Its existence played a pivotal role in Little Witch Academia.
Appearance[]
Most notes or texts has interpreted differents forms of the Cosmic Turtle.
The true appearance of the Cosmic Turtle is that of an ancient armored reptilian of colossal size. Noted is that the being has attributes of multiples species of turtle such as having the shell of a Snapping Turtle, the fins of a Leatherback Sea Turtle, the color and skin tone of a Green Sea Turtle and the head of a Red Eared Slider.
Another fact and most important is that it carries an entire world on its back, mostly trees and forest with a very large tree dominant over the others.
History[]
The Cosmic Turtle came from an unknown region of space. It is believed that it and other members of its kind were the first sentient species after the Big Bang event. They travelled world to world, mostly passing by or took rest there. Their goals according to surviving witnesses is that the Cosmic Turtles are heading to an unknown destination.
Cosmic Turtles have been known to pass knowledge of power to life forms that piqued their interests. The last known species to gain the knowlege so far was humanity.
Long ago, the Nine Olde Witches who were once travelling nomads discovered a Cosmic Turtle that has been injured. How it got hurt is unknown. The Witches nursed the titan back to most of its original health. In gratitude, the turtle passed the knowledge of power to the nine women which is where magic was uncovered.
To use magic, one must believe in themselves and aim for a goal which is worthy for them. Soon, the nine women became the Nine Olde Witches and the Golden Age of Magic began. However that age did not last as warfare consumed the planet. A war so great that it threatened with destruction. The Cosmic Turtle intervened and sacrificed itself to save everyone.
The Nine Olde Witches mourned the loss of their ancient mentor and vowed to safeguard the legacy he has created. The Cosmic Turtle died and his sole giant tree transformed into Yggdrasil, the Cosmic Tree.
